What about integrating solar energy panels into the 4 million mile road network? more>>
Technology is often at its best when it’s invisible. That’s why I like these solar roof tiles that can be laid in by any tiler to fit neatly into any standard pitched roof. Here’s a UK company offering them and an old story spotted on the BBC about a guy generating so much with his [...]
The boat and plane are outside parliament now. All the pics from start to finish are here
We thought all the low energy bulbs we saw were boring, you’d only ever put on up to ‘help.’ So Hulger tried to make a nice one, one you might actually want to have around, one which might inspire the design community to come up some inspiring and wonderful ideas to create beautiful and desirable [...]
With a web glued up with porn it’s funny to see a bit of de-smutalisation out there (on an icelandic forum to be specific). More to follow if you can handle it.
If you’re in government and you want to hit your ambitious C02 emission targets, you would just leave out the C02 growth areas like aviation and shipping, wouldn’t you? This is precisely what is happening and is being justified because with a plane or ship not always being within the UK, ’surely it doesn’t count [...]
I love this piece pinched from Asi’s blog. Take a hackneyed issue (”SAVE THE WHALE” - yawn) and bring it to life in a really simple compelling, noisy, beautiful way.
This is the kind of work I aspire to create. Something that makes you sit up and think, that brings you closer to the subject [...]
Caught this Heat Map on RĂ©gine’s site. Set up to embarrass residents and businesses into sorting out their insulation the test borough Harningey happened to feature my gaff as seen above which seems to be somewhere in the middle between good and bad. So i feel a little bit embarrassed, but also kind of alright.
Make has also changed my life as well as the lives of all those readers who spend their weekends tinkering in their garages making anything from wooden cars to mp3 players.
Today it led me to a guy who worked out a simple way to heat his garage with some wood, cans and plexiglas.
It makes me laugh how scientists are concocting far fetched and over elaborate means to quell global warming. It’s like reading a popular science book from the 80’s, everything involves nano mirrors, satellites and new materials developed by Nasa.
The only fix you never hear about but which happens to be completely viable, practical and cost [...]
Don’t tropical cyclones have pretty names
Now that we all know we’re going to fry to death we’re in a massive panic. Rather than dealing with the pain of changing our bad habits we should instead look toward the scientific community for a quick Panadol style fix it for us and of course we’re reading about such hypothesis daily. Today’s was [...]
I have a lot of stupid business ideas, most of which I don’t get the chance to do anything with. So I decided to sell them. Here’s the first - Last Chance Tourist. It’s going to be BIG!
