BOATS AND PLANES

If you’re in government and you want to hit your ambitious C02 emission targets, you would just leave out the C02 growth areas like aviation and shipping, wouldn’t you? This is precisely what is happening and is being justified because with a plane or ship not always being within the UK, ’surely it doesn’t count against the UK’s C02 output”. I imagine other states won’t show it either as they are all under pressure to conform to their own targets. This leaves aviation and shipping free to grow unhindered by government pressure, much like the SUV’s popularity explosion in the states when they were discounted from emission taxation (and if you’ve been on any roads in the states recently you’ll notice every other car is now an SUV).

So the WWF asked Poke to create a campaign to help pressure the government into finding a sensible way of including them in their targets. Here it is.
