419 SCAM

There is actually the odd person out there who still falls for the classic Nigerian 419 scam. Luckily for the ignorant, help is at hand in the form of 419 Eater a group that tie the scammers up in fruitless correspondence, keeping them from doing any real damage elsewhere. Had me in stitches

The classic 419 scam still lives and still manages to fool people into parting with their money. Of course, the victims are not so much Europeans or other Westerners these days, but are from India, Pakistan and other burgeoning Asian countries.
Sure the 419 eater antics are sometimes fun to follow, but we must not forget that there are still people in the world who have never heard of schemes like this. And don’t forget, the Afticans are continually looking for other ways to get other people’s money.

Yes, Mr “Fuck You” has a good point. Previous comment is pretty sweeping considering scamming is by no means an African phenomenon and yes we’re all at it the world over. 419 scamming does seem to be concentrated in nigeria though if my inbox is anything to go by. I don’t think there’s any moral defense for ignoring this activity as there is any scamming, wherever it is. I’d love to see scammers and hoaxers humiliated all over the world, I’m not too choosy.
